Terms of Service

These terms describe how MainStreetDNS provides web hosting, DNS, and email services. They are written in plain English so that business owners, technical helpers, and agencies can read them clearly. These terms exist to set shared expectations, not to create adversarial conditions.

What These Terms Are and Why They Matter

These Terms of Service are the agreement between you and MainStreetDNS. They describe what we provide, what we expect, and how both parties can work together clearly and predictably.

Terms of service matter because they set the foundation for a working relationship. When expectations are written down in plain language, both the customer and the provider know where they stand. There are fewer surprises, fewer misunderstandings, and a clearer path when questions arise.

We have written these terms to be read, not to be skipped. If any section is unclear, you can contact our support team for a plain-English explanation. We would rather answer a question now than resolve a confusion later.

By using MainStreetDNS services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, you are not obligated to use our services.

Key Terms, Defined Plainly

The following words appear throughout these terms. Here is what each one means in the context of your account and our services.

Customer (You)

The person or organization that holds a MainStreetDNS account. This includes business owners who manage their own account, technical helpers acting on behalf of an account holder, and agencies managing client accounts with proper authorization.

Provider (We, Us)

MainStreetDNS, the company providing web hosting, DNS, and email services under these terms. When we say "we" or "us" in this document, we mean MainStreetDNS.

Services

The web hosting, DNS hosting, email hosting, and related support services that MainStreetDNS provides to customers. Each service is described in Section 5 of these terms.

Account

Your MainStreetDNS account, including your login credentials, control panel access, billing information, DNS records, email configuration, and any hosted files or databases associated with your plan.

Authorized User

Any person the account holder has granted permission to access or manage the account. This includes technical helpers, agency partners, or employees with scoped access to specific account functions.

Plan

The specific service tier you have selected, including its included resources, billing cycle, and renewal price. Plan details are documented in your account and on the pricing page at the time of purchase.

Account Responsibilities

Your account belongs to you. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for any activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, contact our support team immediately so we can help you secure it.

If you authorize a technical helper or agency to manage your account on your behalf, you remain the account holder. You are responsible for the actions taken by anyone you grant access to. We recommend using scoped permissions in the control panel so that authorized users have access only to the functions they need.

You are responsible for providing accurate contact and billing information. If your contact information changes, update it in your account so that we can reach you regarding service notices, billing matters, or security alerts.

We will not share your account information with third parties unless required by law or authorized by you. We will not contact you for marketing purposes unrelated to your existing services.

What MainStreetDNS Provides

A plain description of each service included in your plan. No service is implied beyond what is described here and in your account details.

Web Hosting

Server space for your website files, databases, and applications. Includes daily backups, SSL certificates, server-level security, and access to the control panel. Your website is served from our infrastructure and monitored for uptime continuously.

DNS Hosting

Management and resolution of your domain name records, including A, CNAME, MX, TXT, and SPF records. DNS changes are reviewed before application. Propagation timing depends on external DNS infrastructure and is not within our sole control.

Email Hosting

Email accounts under your domain with IMAP and SMTP access. Includes spam and malware filtering, DKIM and DMARC configuration support, and predictable storage allocations. Email delivery depends in part on external receiving servers.

Support

US-based support available by email and phone during business hours. Support covers server operations, DNS configuration, email setup, SSL certificates, backup restoration, and account management. Website design, custom code, and third-party software are outside our support scope.

Migration Assistance

When you move your website, email, or DNS to MainStreetDNS from another provider, our team handles the transfer process. Migration includes pre-transfer review, careful file and record transfer, and post-migration verification before your services go live.

Service Boundaries

MainStreetDNS provides infrastructure services. We do not provide website design, content creation, search engine optimization, or social media management. If a capability is not listed on your plan or in these terms, it is not included.

Acceptable Use

MainStreetDNS services are provided for lawful business, organizational, and personal use. You agree not to use your account to host, distribute, or facilitate content or activity that violates applicable law.

You may not use your account to send unsolicited bulk email, distribute malware, host phishing pages, or consume server resources in a way that degrades service for other customers. If your account is used for any of these purposes, we will contact you to resolve the issue. Repeated or severe violations may result in account suspension.

If you are an agency managing client accounts, you are responsible for ensuring that each client account you manage complies with these acceptable use expectations. If a downstream client violates these terms, the managing agency shares responsibility for resolution.

We apply acceptable use expectations consistently. If we contact you about a concern, we will explain the issue clearly and give you a reasonable opportunity to address it before taking further action, except in cases where immediate action is necessary to protect other customers or our infrastructure.

Billing and Payment

Clear, predictable billing is a core part of how we operate. There are no teaser rates, no hidden fees, and no surprise changes at renewal.

Billing Cycle

Your account is billed on a monthly cycle unless you have selected an annual plan. Invoices are generated at the beginning of each billing period and are due upon receipt. Payment methods accepted include credit card and ACH transfer.

Renewal Pricing

The price you pay at signup is the price you pay at renewal. We do not use introductory rates or promotional pricing that increases later. If we change our pricing, we will notify you at least 60 days before the change takes effect on your account.

No Hidden Fees

There are no setup fees, cancellation fees, or migration fees. The price on your plan includes all listed features and support. If a service has a cost, it is stated before you agree to it.

Late Payment

If payment is not received within 15 days of the invoice date, we will send a reminder. If payment is not received within 30 days, your account may be suspended. We will contact you before any suspension occurs. Your data is retained for 30 days after suspension to allow resolution.

Refunds

If you cancel your account within the first 30 days, we will issue a full refund. After 30 days, billing stops at the end of your current billing cycle. There are no partial refunds for unused time within a billing period.

Agency Billing

If an agency manages billing on behalf of a client, the agency is responsible for payment. The account holder retains ownership of the account and its data regardless of who manages billing.

Service Changes

MainStreetDNS may update its services, server software, security configurations, or operational procedures from time to time. These changes are part of maintaining a stable and secure hosting environment.

When a change affects how your account operates, we will notify you by email before the change takes effect. Routine maintenance and security patches are applied on a regular schedule and do not typically require customer action.

If a planned change requires action on your part, we will explain what needs to happen, why, and by when. We will provide clear instructions and make our support team available to help with the transition.

We do not remove features from existing plans without notice. If a feature you rely on is being retired, we will provide at least 90 days of notice and, where possible, a comparable alternative. If no alternative is available, we will explain the situation directly.

Termination

Either party may end this agreement. Here is how account closure works for both sides.

Customer-Initiated Closure

You may close your account at any time by contacting our support team or submitting a cancellation request through the control panel. Your services remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. There is no cancellation fee.

Data After Closure

After your account is closed, we retain your website files, databases, email, and DNS records for 30 days. During this period, you may request a copy of your data or reactivate your account. After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted from our servers.

Provider-Initiated Closure

MainStreetDNS may close an account if the customer violates these terms, fails to resolve a payment issue after notification, or uses the account for activity that harms other customers or our infrastructure. We will notify you before closure except in cases requiring immediate action.

Migration Assistance on Exit

If you choose to move to another provider, our support team will assist with the transition. We provide full access to your files, databases, and DNS records so that your migration can proceed without data loss. Your data belongs to you.

Limitations and Disclaimers

MainStreetDNS provides web hosting, DNS, and email services on a commercially reasonable basis. We maintain our infrastructure carefully and monitor it continuously, but no hosting provider can guarantee that services will be available without any interruption at all times.

We are not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside our control, including internet outages, upstream network failures, DNS propagation delays at third-party resolvers, or actions taken by your email recipients' servers. We will communicate clearly during any service disruption and provide updates until the issue is resolved.

Our support scope covers the services described in these terms. We do not provide legal, financial, or regulatory advice. If your business has specific compliance requirements for your website or email, you are responsible for confirming that our services meet those requirements before signing up.

Our liability for any claim related to your account is limited to the fees you have paid to MainStreetDNS in the 12 months preceding the claim. This limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

Governing Law and Dispute Handling

How legal matters are handled if a disagreement cannot be resolved through normal communication.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States. Any legal proceedings related to these terms will be conducted in the courts of Tarrant County, Texas.

Dispute Resolution

If a disagreement arises, we ask that you contact our support team first. Most concerns can be resolved through direct communication. If a resolution cannot be reached, you or MainStreetDNS may pursue the matter through the courts identified above.

No Forced Arbitration

We do not require mandatory binding arbitration. You retain the right to pursue claims through the court system. We believe that fair terms do not require removing your access to the legal process.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions continue to apply. The unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving its original intent.

Contact Information

If you have questions about these terms, your account, or any MainStreetDNS service, you can reach us through the following channels.

Email support is available during business hours, Monday through Friday. You can submit a support request through the control panel or by sending an email to our support address listed on the Contact page.

Phone support is available during business hours for account holders who prefer to speak directly with our team. The phone number is listed on the Contact page and in your account welcome materials.

For billing questions, account changes, or service concerns, the same support team handles all requests. There is no separate billing department or tiered support structure. Your technical helper or agency partner may also contact us on your behalf if they have been granted appropriate access to your account.

How We Communicate Changes to These Terms

If these terms change, we will tell you before the changes take effect. Here is how that process works.

Advance Notice

We will notify you by email at least 30 days before any change to these terms takes effect. The notification will explain what is changing, why, and when the updated terms become active.

Published Record

The current version of these terms is always available on this page. When updates are published, the effective date at the top of the document is updated to reflect the most recent revision.

Continued Use

If you continue using MainStreetDNS services after updated terms take effect, you are agreeing to the updated terms. If you do not agree with a change, you may close your account before the new terms take effect without penalty.

Questions About Changes

If you receive a terms update notification and have questions, contact our support team. We will explain any change in plain English and help you understand how it affects your account, your domain, or your existing plan.

A Note on Clarity

These Terms of Service exist so that you know what to expect from MainStreetDNS and what we expect from you. They are not designed to be a barrier, a trap, or a source of confusion. They are a shared reference that both parties can return to when questions arise.

We have been providing web hosting, DNS, and email services to Main Street businesses since 1996. In that time, we have learned that clear expectations prevent most problems before they start. That is the purpose of this document.

If anything in these terms is unclear, contact our support team. We will explain it plainly and make sure you have the information you need to make a confident decision about your account and your business.
